Love the Leftover Recipes Function!

Updated: Mar 12, 2018

Vaja is the best because it is capable of a variety of unique tasks, useful and applicable in everyday situations, and interactive like a more direct version of Siri. Specifically, the leftover recipe function is the best because it combines my love of food with my other love of environmentally friendly ways to deal with and reduce waste.

In the leftover recipe function, I am most proud of the "other" category because this category includes actual leftovers, like pizza, waffles, and Coke. Plus the recipes for leftovers in the "other" category are my own, not taken from a cookbook.

People should use Vaja because Vaja will definitely teach the user something new. The appeal of Tiscuss' product comes from its combination of economics, cooking, and writing. It was created by a group with many different interests, and as a result there is something for almost everyone. As for the leftover function, I think people should try it because exploring recipes that use leftovers helps save food costs, benefits the environment, teaches the user the value of all food, and sparks creativity.

During the project, some difficulties I encountered include coming up with an efficient way to output recipes according to an almost infinite number of leftover ingredient combinations, learning how to work with JavaFX, and (for the writing template function) figuring out how to implement a user friendly writing program that takes user inputs and changes the outputs according to those inputs.

If I could continue to develop Vaja, I would like to improve the leftover recipe function by adding more leftover ingredients and recipes to reach a larger audience. I would also like to create more hash maps, so that the user can input more than 2 leftover ingredients. As for the writing template function, I would like to improve the user experience by making it more interactive and fun. I think I would do this by asking the user more questions and storing the input, thereby outputting a unique and special message for each individual user.

For the most part, Tiscuss worked together when coding functions. Specifically, I wrote these parts of the code: Leftover.java 1-260 and Writing.java 311-601
